My UserBar Tutorial
« on: May 23, 2007, 12:17:57 PM »

You will be making something like this:

1. Open a new document with the dimensions of 350x19px
2. Open your render. I am using this render LINK Feel free to use it.
3. Using the EyeDropper tool, pcik two complementary colours from your render. I used a orange and a brown.
4. Using the gradient tool, select the Foreground to Background option. Hold shift and click and drag from left to right or vice versa. You should have something like this:

If you already know how to make scan lines, skip steps 5-7.
5. Open a new document of 6x6 and select the pencil tool. Zoom in as far as you possibly can.
6. From the bottom left, draw one pixel at a time all the way to the top right.
7. Click Edit, Define Pattern and call it what you wish.
8. On your userbar. Right Click the Gradient Tool and Select  the Paint Bucket Tool.
9. From the dropdown box at the top, select Pattern. To the right should appear a new box. Select it and click on your scanlines.
10. Create a new layer and fill it with this pattern. Change the Master Opacity to 30% or whatever takes your fancy.
11. Select the Elliptical Marquee and make a selection at the top. It should look something like this:

12. Create a new layer and select the Paint Bucket Tool. Click the drop down box at the top and select foreground. Then, press D and then X.
13. Fill the selected pixels with white. Change the Master Opacity to 30% or whatever take your fancy. Deselect the selection.
14. Drag your render to the userbar. Resize and move to what you want. Make sure the render layer is above the scanlines but below the marquee layer.
15. If you have not already, download the Visitor TT1 (BRK) font. Download it  here
16. With no bold or anti-aliasing, make a text box an type what you wish into it. Change the size and placing to what you want. Make the colour white.
17. Double Click the type layer and select Stroke. Use the settings [1px - Outside - Black]
18. Click File, Save As and then select PNG for best quality.

The End
