Transparent Text on Photographs Using Photoshop
![]() |
You may have seen the transparent copyright notice on photographs where the name is somewhat see through and takes on the colors of the photo. Almost like a glassy effect. It's a simple process and this Photoshop tutorial will explain how to do it.
1. Open your photo and click Ctrl+J to create a new layer.

2. Click on the Horizontal Type Tool
and type your text somewhere on the photo (e.g. Copyright by 11amDesign). I chose Trebuchet MS, Bold, 10pt text with a Smooth anti-aliasing method.

3. Click in the menu to Layer > Type > Warp Text and from the pulldown menu next to the word "Style" I selected "Flag" with a Bend of +50 and a Horizontal Distortion of +10 for this tutorial.

4. Right click on your text layer, Select "Blending Options" and change the Blend Mode to "Screen" and your type should disappear. Now click on "Bevel and Emboss" and "Contour" and click OK.
