Folder  - Learn how to create this Folder using Adobe Photoshop.
Introduction: In this tutorial I will explain how to recreate the Folder above. I created this using the rectangle tool and some blending option. You you use it as an Icon or an navigation button.

Part1: Setting up the workspace and creating the folder.

Ok, let us get started. Create a new image using the dimension  800 x 600. Set the background color to white. You can change the background depending on you web site color. Create a new layer, Layerarrow Newarrow Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Name the layer "Cover". Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool create a rectangle using the dimensions below. Change the foreground color to #4382d0

With that, you should have the effect below.

Create a new layer, Layerarrow Newarrow Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Name the layer "Tab" Using the same setting create another rounder rectangle as shown below.

Position the two rectangles to get the effect below.

Part2: Adding the Gradient to the folder.

Create a new layer, Layerarrow Newarrow Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Name the layer "Bottom" This layer has to be under the two previous layer.

Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool create a rectangle using the dimensions below. Change the foreground color to #466b98

With that, you should have the effect below.

Select the "Tab" and "Cover" layer and merge them by pressing Ctrl+E

Click on the layer to select it as shown below.

Part3: Applying the gradient and blending option.
Click on the Gradient Tool gradient  using the setting below.

Apply the gradient to the rectangle from right to left, make sure the rectangle is selected before applying the gradient. As shown below

Right click on the rectangle layer and click Blending Options. Now add the Blending Options setting below.

Click ok to apply the setting.

Part4: Applying the blending option to the "bottom" Layer.

Right click on the "Bottom" layer and click Blending Options. Now add the Blending Options setting below.

Outer Glow

Outer Glow

Click ok to apply the setting.

Next, Create a new layer, Layerarrow Newarrow Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Name the layer "Paper" This layer should be in the middle of the Tab and Bottom layer. Just click on the Rectangle Tool  and create the rectangle shown below as the paper.

Updated the Forum, Unfortunately i could not use the same link as the old forum for the update. For the new link click Here. All the post and user name are still usable. News Update [10/16/07]
Yesterday on the 15th of October my gallery went down for some unknown reason. I was able to get the backup of the images, i just lost all the users. The gallery was not that active but i am sill pissed about what happened. I am in the process of reloading the gallery.
