Designing header for a gadgets site |
| Start by creating a file of header size. Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangular shape tool. |

| Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown. |

| Create another rounded rectangle within the previous rounded rectangle. |

| Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown. |

| Create a rectangular selection using rectangular marquee tool. Create a new layer and apply black to white linear gradient. |

| Change the layer mode to screen. |

| Create a square frame using custom shape tool. |
 |
| Press Ctrl+T and press Shift & rotate it. Set transparency to 80%. |

| Change layer mode to soft light. |
 |

| Similarly create more fancy rectangles with different colors and place as shown. Leave a rectangle with greater width towards the left side. Don't occupy it with colored button. We'll use it to place a search field. |

| Add a search field over this rectangle. |
 |
| Type link names above fancy colorful rectangles. |
 |
| Insert image cutouts above the colored rectangles. |
 |
| Place company logo on top left. |
