Creating a 3D mechanical style web navigational panel

Start by applying a nice gradient to the background. Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

Create another rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.


Similarly create two ellipses and apply layers styles as we applied previously.
Create two more ellipses and apply 2nd layer style.
Similarly create more bolts with different sizes and place as shown in the image below.
Create connecting shapes using pen tool and apply 1st layer style.

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Apply 2nd layer style. Duplicate and scale down. This will serve as a button. Now duplicate both the layers several times and place as shown in the image below.
Create a vertical rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Create another rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Apply same layer style.
Duplicate and scale down. These three rectangle layers create rod with cylinder.
Duplicate, rotate, scale down and place as to create random connections.
Select and merge all the layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.
Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+U to open hue/saturation window. Apply settings as shown. Remove the layer style.
Change the layer mode to "Overlay".
